Anxiety and Overpreparing: When Planning Becomes an Attempt to Control the Unknown

Anxiety doesn't always look like sitting around worrying.

Sometimes it looks incredibly productive.

Your calendar is organized. You've researched every option. You have a backup plan for your backup plan. You've thought through what could go wrong and what you'll do if it does.

From the outside, you may look prepared.

Inside, you may be thinking:

"If I can just stay one step ahead, maybe I'll finally feel calm."

That's where Anxiety and Overpreparing can become difficult to recognize. Planning itself isn't the problem. Preparation can be useful and responsible.

But when preparation becomes an attempt to eliminate every possible uncertainty, there may never be a point where your brain says, "Okay, that's enough. We're safe now."

Because life can't give you the guarantee anxiety is looking for.

Truth Bomb: Anxiety & Overpreparing

Dana:

Anxiety isn't always overthinking.

Sometimes it's overpreparing.

You convince yourself that if you plan enough, organize enough, and stay one step ahead, you'll finally feel calm.

But here's the problem.

The goalpost keeps moving because anxiety doesn't want certainty. It wants guarantees, and life doesn't offer those.

So instead of asking:

"How can I control everything?"

Try asking:

"How can I trust myself if things don't go as planned?"

That's your Truth Bomb for the day.
