Your Body Hasn’t Moved On: When You Know It’s Over, but Your Nervous System Still Reacts

You know the relationship ended.

You know you're not back in that situation.

You know the thing you're afraid of isn't happening right now.

Logically, you understand.

So why is your body still reacting?

This is where healing can get incredibly frustrating.

You might understand exactly what happened and still experience fear, panic, shutdown, or overwhelm when something reminds your nervous system of the past.

Because understanding something logically and feeling safe in your body are not always the same thing.

Sometimes, Your Body Hasn’t Moved On, even when your thinking brain knows the experience is over.

And forcing yourself to "get over it" isn't necessarily what helps your nervous system recognize that difference.

"You don't heal by pretending it didn't hurt. You heal by helping your body realize, 'Oh, it's over now.'

Truth Bomb: Your Body Hasn’t Moved On

Dana:

Healing is not forcing yourself to move on.

It's helping your nervous system stop reliving what already happened.

That's why so many people feel frustrated.

They understand things logically, but their body still reacts with fear, panic, shutdown, or overwhelm.

Because trauma isn't just stored as a memory, it's stored as an experience.

EMDR therapy helps the brain process what the body never got to finish.

You don't heal by pretending it didn't hurt.

You heal by helping your body realize:

"Oh, it's over now."

That's your Truth Bomb for the day.
